Who is Adam Beyer?
Swedish DJ and producer Adam Beyer has been one of techno’s most influential figures for more than three decades. He is also the founder of Drumcode, the Stockholm-born label that grew into one of the defining institutions of contemporary techno. Drumcode describes Beyer as a DJ, producer and label head who has spent over thirty years helping shape the genre.
His musical roots reach deep into the techno of the early 1990s. A formative visit to Berlin’s Hard Wax record shop in 1993 introduced him more directly to Detroit artists including Jeff Mills, Underground Resistance and Kevin Saunderson, influences that would become deeply embedded in his own rhythmic, drum-driven approach.
Over the years, Beyer has developed a sound that can move between darker hypnotic techno, festival-sized propulsion and more melodic territory without losing that unmistakable sense of forward motion. Tracks and collaborations such as Your Mind with Bart Skils have also become major fixtures in modern techno sets.
And Drumcode itself remains very much in motion. In 2026, the label is celebrating its 30th anniversary, while Beyer continues releasing new music, collaborating with artists across the electronic spectrum and playing major club and festival stages around the world.
