Barracuda by Heart

Let’s talk about a classic: “Barracuda” by Heart. Released in 1977 on Little Queen, it’s more than a song; it’s an experience. That opening guitar squeal (thanks, Roger Fisher!) grabs you instantly. Ann Wilson’s vocals are incredible, moving from soaring highs to gritty lows, conveying fierce independence.

The song’s origin, about a sleazy record executive, adds fuel to the fire. The instrumentation is iconic: driving rhythm, dueling guitars, frantic energy. It’s 70s rock at its finest. “Barracuda” is also an anthem of female empowerment, about standing up for yourself. Crank it up and let it take you away.
